One of the top pitchers in the history of Northwood University baseball, Ian Dimitrie joined the NU coaching staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2018.

After joining the Northwood baseball program as a walk-on, Dimitrie developed into one of the best pitchers in the Midwest Region over the course of his career. In his last two years at Northwood, Dimitrie went 17-8 with a 3.29 ERA in 186 innings pitched. He struck out 154 batters in that span and was a key part of back-to-back GLIAC and GLIAC Tournament Championship teams. His 10 wins in 2018 are the second most in school history, while his 20 career wins are the second most in school history. Dimitrie registered two of the top three single-season innings pitched totals in Northwood history (97.1 – 2017, 88.2 – 2018).

A standout in the classroom as well, Dimitrie earned GLIAC All-Academic Excellence honors three times in his career. He earned First Team Academic All-District from CoSIDA as well as a GLIAC Commissioner’s Award in 2018.

A native of Madison Heights, Michigan, Dimitrie earned his degree at Northwood in Entrepreneurship in May of 2018.
