TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Northwood University men's and women's tennis teams earned academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Both the men's and the women's team earned ITA All-Academic Team honors. In addition, a total of eight (four men, four women) student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2015 and spring 2016).
Individually, Hayden Drury (Traverse City, Mich./Central), Ivan Medvynskyi (Kiev, Ukraine), David Reinauer (Steinenbronn, Germany) and Konstantin Zhukov (Kazan, Russia) all earned ITA Scholar honors from the men's team. The women's program was represented by Anna Aniskina (Odesa, Ukraine), Anastasiia Kazub (Ozery, Russia), Tetyana Pavych (Lviv, Ukraine) and Olesia Riabchuk (Kaluga, Russia).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letterwinner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
